SUR LA STRE NURO (Portugal 2024)

“As Jonathan Uliel Saldanha states: “experimentation is everywhere”. Constructed through conversations with 23 of the most relevant Portuguese experimental sound artists, SUR LA STRE NURO reveals their different approaches to the processes of experimentation, exploring their works, gestures and innovative methodologies, in an uninhibited sonic and documentary journey into the creation of experimental music in Portugal.

We are showing the film free of charge (donations welcome!) at Digital Retro Park. The film will be followed by a concert by Materialeinschüchterung, the project by Torstn Kauke and Oliver Kaib, which creates electroacoustic sound sculptures between noise and sound mixes using (in part) self-soldered electronic sound generators and an electric guitar. In June, they released the album ‘30 Hot Minutes’, which consists of 30 one-minute pieces. Finally, after the concert, the 30-minute documentary expeRheiniMainental (or exRM for short) by LDX#40 from 2017 about the experimental music scene in the Rhine-Main area will be shown.
